Community Concert for Refugee Relief
This fund raiser combines the talents of musicians from different faiths and groups to come together to show support for the plight of refugees everywhere. We are expecting a wide range of talent from different musical styles and so have something for everyone
The money raised will be sent to help relief workers in Europe and elsewhere.
Here's my story. My name is Nick Anderson of Boise Idaho.
This all started in the usual way. You see heart breaking news. In this case, the plight of the refugees fleeing from conflict. We all felt compassion in our choir (Chancel Choir, Cathedral of the Rockies, Boise, ID)
But this time it was different. Let me explain,
My mission is to reach people through song to provide solace, joy and help them feel the love of Jesus. So, I was practicing "Wade in the Water". As you may know, It's based on advice given to escaping slaves to avoid the owner's dogs picking up their scent. The next phrase is "God is going to trouble the waters" which is a reference to the story of the angel "troubling the waters" of the pool at Bethesda. All who then entered were healed.
Then, at the same time I saw the pictures of the drowned little boy whose body was recovered at Bodrum, Turkey. It was in these waters I sailed with my son. A fond memory I will always cherish.
This propelled me to organize a Community Concert for Refugee on Nov 24th at 730pm to be held at the Cathedral of the Rockies. Currently, I have invited musicians from many faiths, refugee groups and those from different ethnic communities. If you can make it to the concert please follow this Facebook Concert Invite
If you can't attend I am providing this opportunity to donate to this cause - gofundme.com/ku6ueamc
All the money will go to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) who are now working in Europe.
