Mrs. Esther Lifshitz was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa.  At sixteen she left to study in Chicago, Australia, Israel, Czech Republic, and New Jersey.  Esther graduated from the Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey and the Teachers Seminary in Melbourne, Australia with an emphasis in early childhood development.  She was a preschool and elementary teacher for five years in Prague and New York, and met her husband Rabbi Mendel Lifshitz, in New York.  They have five daughters and four sons.  Rabbi and Mrs. Lifshitz moved to Boise in 2004 to establish the Chabad Jewish Center.  Esther serves as a mentor to countless Idahoans.  As the only kosher caterer in Idaho, Esther has developed a following for her Jewish and ethnic cuisine.  Every Friday, she can be found in her kitchen baking her most-famous-in-Idaho challah bread.   What inspires you?
