"One Small Step walk" for Prader- Willi Syndrome
We are having a "One Small Step walk" for Prader- Willi Syndrome Aug. 3rd at Veterans Park. The walk is a 3k on the Green Belt and begins at 9AM.
Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS is the #1 genetic cause of life threatening childhood obesity) PWS is a complex genetic disorder that occurs randomly and affects approximately 1 out of every 12,000 births. PWS is a life threatening medical disorder. Behavior problems are common and worsened by an unrelenting, overriding physiological drive to eat, the feeling of fullness after eating is missing.
In 2009 FPWR, working together with PWSA-USA, brought together leading scientists and created the Prader-Willi Syndrome Research plan, which outlines critical resources and research questions for PWS. All proceeds from the One Small step walks will go to help advance PWS Research.
