STEM Matters Day

The fifth annual STEM Matters! Day at the Capitol is a fun, free, hands-on educational event that explores and celebrates innovations in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics learning. The event is open to the public and admission is free. Highlights include:

* FIRST Robotics teams demonstrating a variety of robots

* Staff and raptors from the World Center for Birds of Prey and pilots from the Idaho National Guard

* New exhibitors, including BLOCK Fest, Boise State Children's Center, the Children's Museum of Idaho, Idaho Public Television, and the Inventors Association of Idaho

* Fun, engaging STEM activities for kids, such as interacting with the International Space Station, piloting a virtual drone via a virtual-reality headset, working with circuits, and tackling a KEVA planks hands-on engineering challenge

* The latest STEM, science, electronics, robotics, and makerspace activities, including 3D printing and computer-aided design

* W. Jefferson St. will be closed between 6th St. and 8th St. so the Boise Fire Department and Idaho National Guard can offer tours of their high-tech vehicles in front of the Capitol while KBOI-TV showcases its mobile weather center and STEM Action Drone

* Meet STEMazing students, community members, companies, and elected officials that are making a positive impact on STEM education in Idaho
