Volunteer Campaign Skills Workshop
We are pleased to announce that all tickets for both the all-day session and afternoon session are sold out! Thank-you! We do have plenty of space in the morning, and you can attend the keynote address by Representative Ilana Rubel free of charge and without a ticket! Indivisible Boise Chapter One and the Idaho Democratic Party will host a Volunteer Campaign Skills Workshop Saturday, April 27 from 10:30-5 at the Boise Public Library (715 S. Capitol). Admission is $12 to the Early Session (10:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m.) and includes a box lunch from Boise Bistro and a seat for the keynote address by the Honorable Ilana Rubel, House Assistant Minority Leader. The Morning Workshop is completely free of charge if you opt out of the lunch, but we ask that you still indictate on the form that you will be attending the morning session. Please bring a smartphone and laptop or tablet--you will need both. (if you are unable to bring either a smartphone or laptop, please email us at IndivisibleBoi1@gmail.com and we will do our best to provide one.) The Workshop will feature courses in the basic skills needed to work on a campaign, including Votebuilder, messaging, and phone-banking. Boise Bistro will deliver box lunches in time for our lunch break (12:15-1 p.m.). Early Session (Auditorium, Library at 715 South Capitol, Boise) 10:30--Welcome! 10:30 – 11:10 Messaging--Presenter: Tex Beauchamp Messaging is the most important activity you can do, especially in the age of social media. How the public perceives the progressive message and how issues are framed largely determines the outcomes of elections. Learn the easy and basic skills of messaging and the tools to be successful! 11:10 – 11:40 Phone Bank--Presenter: Joe Goode Though phone-banking can be utilized for several reasons, the main purpose is for the campaign to find committed voters. A volunteer thus can bring in more volunteers, more contributions, more supporters that will take a yard sign, and many more positive results for the candidate or campaign. 11:40 – 11:45 Break 11:45– 12:15 Votebuilder--Presenter: Shelby Scott Votebuilder is a powerful, multi-purpose tool campaigns use to better understand the electorate and easily identify possible supporters and likely opponents. The more one understands Votebuilder, the more one wants to learn about it. 12:15 – 1:00 Lunch 1:00– 1:45 Afternoon Welcome Keynote Address: The Honorable Ilana Rubel, House Assistant Minority Leader will give a review of the 2019 Idaho Legislative Session.
